There are
a number of key questions you should ask
before buying an industrial labeler:
First you need to know
your labeling needs. For example, what is the purpose of the labels?
This will help you answer the first three question which provide
key information you need to know when determining the types of
label materials that will be appropriate to meet your needs.
1) What
kind of labels do I need?
2) How
will the labels be used?
3) Where
will the labels be used? (In what type of environment?)
Use the links
above to read more about each of these questions. They will help
you determine the type of labeling materials you'll need to use.
Once you know
what types of labeling materials you need, you can start looking
to see which machines use those types of materials. Questions
such as the following will needed to be answered?
4) How
many labels do I need to make? You'll need to know whether
you need to make a lot of copies of each label and how many labels
you expect to make each day (or week). Some machines include features
that make it easy to print a large number of the same labels.
Also, label machines vary from low volume designs to those which
are heavy-duty high volume designs.
5) How
frequently and how quickly will I need to make labels? Label
machines run at various speeds.
6) Who
in my organization needs labels? And what types of labels
do they need? You find out that purchasing two label printers
will be more efficient and economical that buying one machine
that can do it all.
Use the links
above to read more about each of these questions.
Once you have
answered all of the above questions, you should have a good idea
of what types of labeling materials you'll need; what types
of machines will print the labels you need; and the quantity
of machines and supplies you'll need.
